Lenovo have once again come up with a Smartphone Z2 Plus from their Chinese Sub-brand ZUK but this time under the name of Lenovo. The unofficial predecessor of this phone Lenovo ZUK Z1 which was also incredibly popular and Z2 plus certainly looks to carry forward the legacy set by its successor.
The phone is perfectly suited in the mid-range Smartphone category where Lenovo has a commanding presence with more than dozen smartphones. Lenovo has hinted that the dropped sub brand is an attempt to attract customers so that the customer can easily relate to the brand which is quite popular in India.
Lenovo Z2 Plus has got decent looks with the specially crafted fiber glass frame with a certainly distinctive look. The fiber glass body ensures strong build quality makes the phone lightweight to make its handling more convenient to the user. The company also states that the fiberglass body also ensures a stronger network reception than the normal metal phones. From the first view of it the phone does not looks like a phone worth 20k and the average looks that make it look like iPhone 5s.
The Smartphone boast a 13 MP rear camera and delivers a commanding display with fairly decent pictures. The real camera has an Isocell sensor with PDAF (Phase detection Auto Focus) which quickly focuses on the objects. The camera delivers good pictures low light and indoor which certainly is its USP and is also capable of recording 4k videos which has become a trend in almost every other mid-range Smartphone. The front camera which is of 8 MP also looks good and the camera app is also easy to use.
Hardware is a department where Z2 plus can be given full marks unlike its successor with the latest QUALCOMM Snapdragon 820 Soc of 2.15 GHz effectively coupled with a DDR4 RAM. The phone comes in tow options one is of 3 GB which has 32 GB storage space and price of 17,999, the other one is 4 GB with 64 GB storage space and a price of 19,999, one particular drawback is the absence of expandable storage option. The phone delivers great performance with the best in class snapdragon Soc. The Phone also Boast the latest Adreno 530 GPU to deliver high performance. The phone also boasts a finger print sensor which certainly looks good and is quite fast.
- Display and OS
Z2 plus has a screen size of 5 inch with 1080×1920 resolution which makes it very compelling. The display is quite solid and strong but the brightness option is slightly restricted delivering a poor performance in the day light. As far as OS is concerned, Z2 plus offer Android 6.0 Marshmallow which is slightly modified to ensure the Lenovo touch.
Overall it looks like a brilliant phone and is certainly worth a bet in the mid-range category. The one feature that gives it an upper hand in this price segment is the snapdragon 820 Soc but the fairly decent looks make its less compelling.
