Another report points to Apple working on its own pair of high end, noise cancelling, on ear earphones, with a launch slated for as early as the end of this year. The headphones will supposedly rival brands such as Bose and Beats by Dre, Bloomberg reports, citing sources familiar with the merchandise development. However, the new headphones have seemingly also faced comparable problems as the HomePod, that was postponed and went through several redesigns. Apple has been working on the headphones on and off for the last calendar year, and also the new headset will probably have a wireless coupling like the AirPods.
However, Bloomberg sources said there is a possibility that the design of the headphones will be overhauled, or the whole project may be scrapped altogether. This new report supports the previous memo published in noted Apple analyst Ming Chi Kuo of KGI Securities a week ago that said that Apple is working on a pair of headphones which are just as convenient as AirPods with better sound quality. There is no indication of just how much these headphones can price, but given that the HomePod prices $349 and is priced higher than other smart speakers on the marketplace from Sonos and Amazon, it is likely the Apple headphones will probably come with a premium price. Beats higher end headphones price around $300, while Bose and Sennheiser have models in that budget.
