Apple is set to unveil a brand new cost effective IPad model for teachers and students next week, based on Bloomberg’s noted Apple reporter Mark Gurman. It is reportedly also working on the educational MacBook model, but won’t unveil that till later on. Nothing is known yet about the new iPads specifications, attributes or, most importantly, the price. It’s guaranteed to be very aggressive, however, Apple is attempting to break back in a marketplace which has largely been taken over by low price Chromebooks and PCs. As a point of reference, the least expensive IPad accessible is the standard $329 iPad with 32GB of storage.

By comparison, many Chromebooks and PCs could be had for less than $200. Apple used to dominate the educational marketplace, but 60 percent of it’s currently held by Google powered Chromebooks or Android tablets, 22 percent by PCs and 20% by Macs and devices. The market is worth $17.7 billion worldwide, but it is not only sales which are the stage. Many students continue utilizing the devices they learned on driving future sales of educational providers.
