Currently, there are two MacBook Pro variants in the market. The 13-inch model that was updated back in March of 2015 while the bigger 15-inch model was updated in May 2015. Since then, users have been hoping to see a newer variant. During the company’s event in March, the world expected to see, or at least hear about, an updated Pro variant. But sadly, nothing was mentioned. Hopes were high during the WWDC 2016 event that took place in June, but the Cupertino-based company disappointed again. Finally, this September, when the iPhones and Apple Watch were announced, people were positive to see a new MacBook. Yet again, Apple didn’t deliver. Rumors are now flooding in about an October release, which seems a bit odd, Only a couple of weeks ago, Apple introduced the world to the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, and the Apple Watch Series 2. While the buzz around these devices is still being heard today, many Apple fans and users especially, have been asking one question. Where is the new MacBook? It is a question that has not been answered for a couple of years now. But now, there is a lot of hype circling the internet about Apple gearing up to release their newest models of the MacBook Pro and the almost forgotten, MacBook Air. Here’s what we know so far.
MacBook Pro 2016
but Apple has always been a company to do things differently.
Shortcuts Now Get Shorter
In the specifications department, the new MacBook Pro 2016 is rumored to come with an OLED strip above the keyboard for quicker access to everything. The touch-screen panel will allow users to access the features on the device. There is even some talk about a 15 inch AMD Polaris chip for enhanced graphics.
Updated Ports For Instant Connectivity
Similarly to how the iPhones have ditched the 3.5mm headphone jack, the new MacBook Pro 2016 could also replace it with a lightning port for all audio requirements. Since the world is embracing the USB Type-C port, Apple believes their MacBook Pro should also hold one and leaked images have shown just that.
One of the biggest rumors around the MacBook Pro 2016 is the inclusion of TouchID in the power button that will allow users to access their laptops with their fingerprint. Some of the other features set to make their appearance on the latest MacBook Pro are listed below:
- Cellular 4G Compatibility
- Apple Pencil Compatibility
- Skylake Processors (6th Gen by Intel)
MacBook Air 2016
The super-light MacBook Air is known for its slimness and is probably one of the most demanded MacBook’s around the world. Although the device was last updated in March 2016, it was nothing more than a few tweaks and enhancements. The majority of Apple MacBook users were more than convinced that they would be getting a Retina display-enabled MacBook Air, but sadly, all they got was a barely updated laptop. The biggest changes came in the form of more power, a new Rose Gold color option, and an 8GB storage (which was reserved for the 13-inch model only).
Even though there are a lot of rumors around the MacBook line and newer releases this October, it seems like the MacBook Air will come, if at all, sometime between the months of March and May of 2017. In terms of specifications, a Retina display is what most people are talking about. Again, a USB Type-C port should feature on the laptop, along with a lightning port instead of a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Addition Of A New Size
The MacBook Air has two size variants; an 11-inch and 13-inch model. Rumors about a discontinuation of the 11-inch variant have also been making headlines around the world. There is also news about the addition of a new 15-inch variant for the MacBook Air series, which would definitely be exciting news. The 2017 MacBook Air is said to be slimmer than the current model and come with better batteries and cooling modules. Like the Pro variant, the Air will also come with Apple Pencil compatibility, Touch ID, and Force Touch.
So, are you gearing up to check out the latest MacBook lineup? Looks like it could be a very exciting couple of months for Apple, as well as its customers and fans. The MacBook Pro and MacBook Air are, by far, the most sought after laptops from the company, and their upgraded version should give the crowd something to cheer about.
