Google’s upgraded language of design – Material Design 2, that will become more clear With Android P – continues to be employed in several applications like Google News, Tasks, Play Games, Google Home, etc. Now, one of the technology giant’s most popular applications – Google Maps has been refreshed with a new UI and a few features featured on Google I/O 2018. The interface is rolling out to select the very first look was shared by a typter called Daniel. The most obvious changes are the overhauled cards with rounded corners and pill shaped buttons in place of the conventional rectangular buttons with rounded corners.

The search bar also receives rounded corners. Another clearly observable change is the upgraded font, i.e. Product Sans which Google also uses from the overhauled Gmail port on the web. The main update comes in form of the new Explore section, which apart from the new cycle icon to explore places by groups, gets a brand new carousel of images for picking restaurants along with other restaurants based on their preference and target audience. Underneath the carousel, there’s a record of the most famous restaurants that is organized by Google. A new Google Maps Update also receives a list of events scheduled to take place near you, like the prior design, but with a subtle new addition for sorting and finding event based on time.
