More than 1 billion people across the globe from 180 countries use WhatsApp messenger to connect with their families and friends. It has become one of the crucial things of our day to day life which meets and suits our needs on these internet savvy days. A recent survey on internet trends in India showed that WhatsApp is the most downloaded Android app nationwide.

With the implementation of the new updates it has become much easier to use the app than earlier.

Pinned Chats

WhatsApp recently got a new interesting update (feature) called pinned chats. As the name says, you can pin your favorite chats to the top of the chat list regardless of the conversation you made. You can pin a maximum of three chats to the top. All the remaining will be kept below the pinned chats. If you don’t wish to pin them, you always can unpin them.

This feature is available only on Android devices so far. Just long tap the chat to enable the feature along with other features. Tap on the pin option to enable the pinning of the chat.

Two-step verification

The 2- step verification feature was under review for months and has been now rolled out for all Android, Windows and iOS users. This feature provides an extra layer of security by enabling passcode when the user wants to reset and verify the account. It prevents others from peeking into your WhatsApp account.

Siri-Reads your messages loud

If you are an iOS user, then Apple’s voice assistant Siri can read messages out loud for you, if you enable this feature. It works on iOS 10.3 v and later an requires 2.17.20 version of WhatsApp.

The return of Text Status

The much loved text status returned on public demand. Earlier this feature allowed the users to add GIF, video and images as text, but for now, it only allows the text as status. It is being reviewed for iOS users and will be available soon and is available in Android users.

Video Calling Button

A separate video calling button was added to the Android users. Earlier it was included within the call option where you have to choose either video or voice call. Recently WhatsApp revealed that India is the leading nation to use the video calling feature available within the app.
