A brand new report suggests Samsung might Be preparing to start a smartwatch powered by Google’s Wear OS, previously known as Android Wear. Even though Samsung formerly pitched Android Wear for its own Tizen system, the Korean conglomerate is said to be planning to release a Wear OS powered smartwatch, tentatively named Samsung Galaxy Watch, in 2018. That suggestion comes from prolific Samsung technology Leaker Ice Universe on Chinese microblogging website Weibo claiming, Samsung and Google is going to have a Google Android Wear flagship watch at the second 50% of the year. ,Another trustworthy leaker Evan Blass lately claimed that Samsung workers were seen wearing Gear watches, running Wear OS.

But he did not Say if This smartphone SmartWatch is a separate venture, or if the following Samsung wearable will, really, ditch Tizen in favour of Wear OS. The name of the new watch comes from other reports that stated Samsung will ditch the Gear branding and for that reason prospective Gear S4 tag previously believed to be the natural next step. Samsung was recently granted patents for Samsung Galaxy Watch, also, if its second generation smartwatch carry this name, it’d hint a change from the normal Samsung Gear naming practice.

Could that be a sign that the business is planning to modify perception on the smartwatch front? According to Chinese web site IT home, Samsung will select Wear OS for a brand new smartwatch as Tizen users are cheated with regards to program support. Dwindling popularity and poor revenue Pushed Google to create the choice to rebrand its Android Wear as Wear OS. By rebranding, Google hopes to regain its foothold in a marketplace dominated by Tizen and watchOS. For Google, rebranding was an unavoidable move, considering that each and every 3rd Android smartwatch has been paired with an iPhone.
