WhatsApp no more supports on these smartphones

There is a bad news for WhatsApp messenger users. The Facebook owned instant messaging app declared that they are no longer willing to support their service for some smartphone devices. We know that around 95% of the world with smartphones uses WhatsApp for instant messaging to connect with their family and friends.

List of smartphone devices which WhatsApp doesn’t support their service after 31st Dec 2016.

  • BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10,
  • Nokia S40,
  • Nokia Symbian S60,
  • Android 2.1 and Android 2.2,
  • Windows Phone 7.1,
  • IPhone 3GS/iOS 6.

WhatsApp is shutting down its services for those device users. It’s time to upgrade your smartphone if you would like to continue using WhatsApp before 31st Dec 2016.

It was seen around the world that its users are facing trouble using it. It’s popping message as “unfortunately, you won’t be able to use WhatsApp from 1st Jan 2017 as it no longer supports your phone”. As they are trying to expand their services, these devices are not capable for upgrading.

There is good news for the old OS users as well. They are not blocking users completely. But users are not able to upgrade their new features. Old features can be used normally.

WhatsApp in its blog posted that when they started their services, there is a different environment with smartphones. As App store was 7 months old and smartphones sold at that time had about 70% OS offered by Blackberry and Nokia. This is far different from today’s world of smartphones.

“As we look ahead to our next seven years, we want to focus our efforts on the mobile platforms the vast majority of people use. So, by the end of 2016, we will be ending support for WhatsApp Messenger”. This is what they have to say to its users in their official blog.
